Procell™ Microchanneling: Advanced Skin & Scalp Rejuvenation

Advanced skin rejuvenation with growth factor technology.

Procell™ Microchanneling is a clinically validated, non-invasive regenerative treatment that uses controlled microchanneling technology to initiate the skin’s natural wound-healing cascade — without the epidermal disruption associated with ablative procedures or traditional microneedling rollers. The treatment is performed using a precision stamping handpiece that delivers uniform, vertical microchannels at a consistent depth, followed by immediate topical application of a proprietary serum containing human-derived stem cytokines and growth factors.

The result is a targeted, measurable improvement in dermal architecture — including increased collagen and elastin density, improved barrier function, and enhanced skin tone and texture — with minimal procedural discomfort and a significantly reduced recovery profile compared to more aggressive modalities.

At 518 Medspa, Procell™ Microchanneling is performed by a board-certified nurse practitioner and is available for both facial rejuvenation and scalp therapy in patients experiencing hair thinning or hair loss.

The Science Behind Procell™

Microchanneling vs. Microneedling — a clinical distinction

Conventional microneedling devices use rolling or oscillating mechanisms that create irregular, dragging trauma across the epidermis. This epidermal shear increases inflammation, extends recovery time, and reduces the predictability of outcomes. Procell™ uses a controlled stamping motion that creates precise, vertical microchannels with consistent depth and minimal lateral tissue disruption. This technical distinction is clinically meaningful — it reduces unnecessary epidermal damage while maximizing the depth and uniformity of serum penetration.

Stem cytokines and growth factor delivery

Immediately following the microchanneling pass, Procell’s proprietary serums — formulated with human-derived stem cytokines — are applied topically and driven into the dermis through the open microchannels. Stem cytokines function as intercellular signaling molecules that direct fibroblast activity, accelerate tissue regeneration, and modulate the inflammatory response. Unlike generic growth factor products, Procell’s serum formulation is designed specifically to work in conjunction with the microchanneling process, maximizing bioavailability at the dermal level where structural remodeling occurs.

The regenerative response

The controlled microtrauma created by Procell™ activates the skin’s natural wound-healing cascade: an initial inflammatory phase triggers platelet and cytokine recruitment, followed by a proliferative phase in which fibroblasts synthesize new collagen and elastin, and finally a remodeling phase in which dermal matrix density and organization improve progressively over weeks. This biological sequence is the mechanism by which long-term structural improvement occurs — not surface-level resurfacing, but genuine dermal regeneration.

Clinical Applications

Facial rejuvenation

Procell™ Microchanneling addresses a broad range of skin concerns at a structural level:

  • Fine lines and periorbital wrinkles
  • Deep rhytids and textural irregularity
  • Acne scarring and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
  • Photoaging, solar lentigines, and uneven pigmentation
  • Enlarged pores and sebaceous hyperplasia
  • Skin laxity and loss of dermal density
  • Dullness, sallowness, and compromised barrier function

Because the mechanism of action is dermal regeneration rather than superficial resurfacing, results develop progressively over 4–8 weeks following each session and continue to improve with a structured treatment series.

Procell™ Scalp Therapy — hair restoration

Hair thinning and hair loss are among the most frequently underaddressed consequences of hormonal dysregulation. Declining estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone levels directly impact follicular cycling, scalp microcirculation, and the dermal papilla activity that governs hair growth. For patients experiencing thinning related to hormonal changes — including perimenopause, menopause, postpartum shifts, or androgen imbalances — addressing the hormonal root cause through BHRT is the primary intervention. Procell™ Scalp Therapy is a clinically complementary treatment that addresses the local follicular environment.

When applied to the scalp, the microchanneling process increases local circulation, reduces follicular inflammation, and delivers stem cytokine-rich serums directly to the follicular unit. This creates a more favorable growth environment by extending the anagen (active growth) phase, reducing premature entry into telogen (shedding), and supporting the structural integrity of the follicular dermal papilla. Procell™ Scalp Therapy is non-pharmaceutical, non-surgical, and integrates naturally into a comprehensive hormone optimization protocol.

Candidates for scalp therapy include patients with:

  • Diffuse hair thinning associated with hormonal shifts
  • Reduced hair density at the crown or temples
  • Hair loss following significant physiological stress
  • Patients already undergoing BHRT who want to support scalp health as hormones rebalance

How Procell™ Works

Procell™ creates controlled microchannels in the skin, allowing targeted serums to penetrate more effectively. This process supports the skin’s natural regenerative response while promoting collagen and elastin production over time.

Our Approach

  • Treatment customized based on skin type and goals.
  • Focus on skin health and gradual natural improvement.
  • Guidance and support on post-treatment skincare.

Treatment Protocol

What to expect at your appointment

  • Consultation and skin assessment.
Each Procell™ session begins with a clinical skin or scalp assessment to evaluate baseline condition and confirm treatment parameters.
  • In-office treatment.
The treatment area is cleansed and prepared, and a topical numbing agent may be applied for patient comfort prior to the procedure. The microchanneling pass is performed using the Procell handpiece, followed immediately by thorough application of the growth factor serum to maximize uptake through the open channels. A calming recovery product is applied at the conclusion of the treatment. Total appointment time is approximately 45–60 minutes.
  • Post-treatment recovery
Most patients experience mild erythema for 12–24 hours post-procedure, consistent in appearance with moderate sun exposure. Edema is minimal. There is no epidermal peeling, no weeping, and no requirement to avoid normal daily activity. Patients are advised to avoid active topical ingredients (retinoids, exfoliating acids) for 48–72 hours and to apply broad-spectrum SPF consistently during the healing period. Makeup can typically be resumed within 24 hours.
  • Treatment frequency and series
Optimal outcomes are achieved through a structured series. For facial rejuvenation, an initial series of 3–6 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart is standard protocol, followed by maintenance sessions every 2–3 months. For scalp therapy, a minimum series of 4–6 sessions is recommended before assessing clinical response, as follicular cycling timelines require consistent stimulation over several months to produce measurable density improvement.
Treatment plans at 518 Medspa are individualized based on clinical presentation, patient goals, and response to initial sessions.
